“What do you want?”
Jesus asked this question to someone He noticed was following Him. (John 1:35-39)
(Jesus was the master of knowing exactly what to ask)
Many of us begin our journey of faith by looking at Jesus out of curiosity.
We can be sure that Jesus notices our curiosity and is waiting for the right moment to turn toward us to ask this same question, “What do you want?”
Not in the annoyed way that some might expect, but in a genuinely probing way to get you to think deeply about it for yourself…
” What do you want?”
Many of us don’t actually know. We’ve never thought about it. We’ve pushed that question away.
As humans, we are given one life and within that one life, there are dozens of decisions we make every day for many years. But if we are being honest - before it’s too late - all of us would do well to slow down and think carefully about what we actually want.
That will lead us to ponder what’s most important...
Where did I come from?
Why am I here?
Does my life have meaning?
Where will I go when I die?
The beautiful thing about asking those questions is that there are answers, and they can lead you to hope and life.
